Pak Defence Minister Admits to Sponsoring Terrorism
Break10 Web Desk: In what is probably the first admission of its kind from official quarters, the Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that his country has been carrying out the “dirty work” of Western powers for decades, particularly in the realm of geopolitics and counterterrorism.
Asked about Islamabad’s long history of backing, supporting, training and funding terrorist organisations, Asif said, “Well, we have been doing this dirty work for the United States (US) for about three decades, you know, and the West, including Britain.”

Asif pointed to Islamabad’s involvement in the US-led campaign in Afghanistan after 9/11, as well as its earlier role in supporting Mujahideen fighters during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s, as key examples of how Pakistan was used as a proxy.
Pakistan is under global condemnation for the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, by the Resistance Front, which has admitted responsibility for the strike. The Front is an off-shoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Militants opened fire in Pahalgam, killing 26 people, in the deadliest attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama strike.
