Elon Musk Exits, White House Appoints New DOGE Leadership

Break10 Web Desk: The White House has announced a new leadership structure for the department of government efficiency (DOGE) following the departure of Elon Musk from his role as a special government employee. United States (US) President Donald Trump and his Cabinet members will now oversee the agency’s operations.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the DOGE leaders are each and every member of the President’s Cabinet, and Trump himself, and are wholeheartedly committed to cutting waste, fraud, and abuse from our government.

Musk, who served a 130-day tenure with DOGE, announced his exit on 29 May, expressing gratitude to Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. He assured that the DOGE mission would “only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

During his time with DOGE, Musk aimed to cut $2 trillion in federal spending, a target later adjusted to $1 trillion. The agency claims to have saved $160 billion through various measures, including contract cancellations and asset sales.

Trump praised Musk’s contributions, stating on his Truth Social platform, “Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House,” referring to a scheduled press conference marking Musk’s final day in the role.

While Musk steps away from his formal position, he is expected to remain an influential figure, continuing to advise the administration on efficiency initiatives.
