Top Baloch Leader Declares Independence
Break10 Web Desk: In a bold assertion of sovereignty, Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch today declared Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, emphasising that the region has never been an integral part of the country. Citing decades of alleged state-perpetrated violence, including air bombings, enforced disappearances, and genocide, Mir Yar Baloch highlighted the longstanding struggle for autonomy and resistance against Pakistani control.
Mir Yar Baloch called upon Indian media to refrain from referring to the Baloch people as a part of Pakustan. He asserted that Balochistan’s identity is distinct and separate from Pakistan. He recalled Balochistan’s declaration of independence on 11 August, 1947, when the British were leaving the region, and emphasized that the Baloch people have always considered themselves a separate nation.

In his appeal, Mir Yar Baloch urged the international community, including the United Nations (UN), to recognise the Balochistan as an independent state. He also requested the Indian government to allow the opening of a Baloch embassy in New Delhi, seeking diplomatic support and acknowledgment of Balochistan’s sovereignty.
Experts, however, said that the Balochistan independence declaration is more symbolic in nature.
