Khawaja Asif Faces Backlash Over Drone Statement
Break10 Web Desk: Pakistan’s defence minister Khawaja Asif faced backlash over his comments about the non-interception of Indian drones. In an address to the Pakistan National Assembly, Asif stated that the Pak military deliberately chose not to intercept Indian drones to avoid revealing the locations of its air defence units. He described the drone activity as a reconnaissance effort by India to detect Pakistan’s air defence positions, adding, “It’s a technical thing that I can’t explain.”
Asif’s remarks have sparked criticism and mockery both domestically and internationally. Observers noted that his explanation contradicted earlier claims by the Pakistani military, which had asserted that several Indian drones were shot down during recent hostilities.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following a series of drone and missile exchanges along the border. India has accused Pakistan of launching attacks on its military bases, while Pakistan denies initiating any aggression.
Asif’s comments have also drawn attention to previous controversial statements, including an admission that Pakistan had supported terrorism at the behest of Western nations, a claim that has been widely disputed.
The international community, meanwhile, continues to urge both countries to exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate the situation.
