Pak Authorises Military to Take Corresponding Action

Break 10 Web Desk: Pakistan’s national security committee (NSC) has officially authorised the country’s armed forces to take “corresponding actions” in response to what it called “unprovoked” Indian airstrikes on its territory. India carried out a coordinated military strike today, codenamed Operation Sindoor, targeting Pakistan-based terrorist camps in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The operation involved 24 precision missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Muridke and Bahawalpur that are strongholds of terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The strikes were in response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack.

In an emergency NSC meting held in Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Indian strikes as a “clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty” and warned of serious consequences.

“The government of Pakistan cannot and will not allow such aggression to go unanswered,” said Sharif. “We have full confidence in our armed forces and have authorised them to take all necessary corresponding actions to safeguard our national integrity. Let no one mistake our restraint for weakness.”

Sharif also appealed to the international community to take immediate notice of what he called India’s “reckless military adventurism” and urged for diplomatic intervention to de-escalate the situation.

Senior Pakistan military official, major general Tariq Ghazi, confirmed that its air defence systems were on high alert and operational readiness levels had been elevated along the Line of Control (LoC).
