Revenge in Mind, Man Sends 300 COD Parcels to Ex-Lover

Break10 Web Desk: In an unusual case of heartbreak-fuelled vengeance, a man from West Bengal reportedly sent over 300 cash-on-delivery (COD) parcels to his former girlfriend’s house in Kolkata, creating chaos at her home and drawing attention from both law enforcement agencies. The parcels were sent in a span of two weeks.

The 28-year-old man, whose identity has been withheld by authorities, allegedly orchestrated the scheme after a bitter breakup. The man, according to police sources, used multiple ecommerce platforms and courier services to dispatch hundreds of parcels. The goods ranged from cheap electronics to household items.

The woman, confused and overwhelmed by the deluge of COD packages, initially thought she was the target of a mistaken identity or some fraud operation. However, after refusing to pay for dozens of unexpected parcels, she contacted local authorities.

She received more than 300 COD parcels from various vendors, a senior officer from the cyber crime department told the media, adding that it was a deliberate act of harassment forcing the woman to constantly deal with courier agents.

The investigation quickly led police to her former partner, who allegedly used fake email addresses, prepaid mobile cards, and even virtual private networks to mask his identity while placing the orders. His aim, police said, was to inconvenience and embarrass the woman who had ended their relationship several months ago. The accused is now in custody and is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities are considering charges under the Information Technology Act as well as sections related to criminal intimidation and stalking. Cyber experts are also investigating the role of ecommerce platforms in verifying large volumes of COD orders placed under dubious circumstances.

The woman, reportedly safe but shaken by the ordeal, has urged others to speak out against harassment and not dismiss online pranks as harmless.

Police are also considering issuing advisories to e-commerce companies to better track suspicious ordering patterns and prevent future misuse.
